Q: What is your favorite terrain to duck hunt?
A: Out of all the places I’ve hunted, I love hunting the flooded timber on the Quachita River the most.
Q: What is your favorite movie?
A: I would have to say “Dances with Wolves”
Q: Talk about your role in the field and what part of hunting you specialize in.
A: I make sure the decoys are in the best location possible for us to get ducks in. Also I try to figure out where the ducks are going to come from so that we can get covered as best as we can.
Q: What is your favorite food?
A: Nothing taste better to me than a good rib-eye steak.
Q: What is your favorite Duck Commander call?
A: The call that I have used the most over the years was one of the original “Duck Commander” Phil made. Phil only turned 2000 of these wood calls and it has lasted many years and has seen many ducks die. But if I was to pick my favorite new call it would be that “Duck Picker”, it’s got a great sound!
Q: Talk about your hunting memories growing up and the relationships you had with your brothers.
A: It’s kind of strange actually because growing up we only had 2 guns in the house, a shotgun and a 22. So as soon as school was out we would run home and whoever got there first got to use the shotgun and the second would get the 22. During our college days, Phil and I would hunt together in Ruston and on the Quachita River. I’ve gotten the chance to do all sorts of hunting but out of all of them, duck hunting is the best by far! There’s nothing like calling in a big bunch of mallards and swattin’ the whole bunch!
Q: What is your favorite state to hunt in?
A: Most people would rather be up northwest where the ducks are more prevalent. But I would have it any other way than hunting on the Quachita River. It’s gotten hard to compete with all the sanctuaries that keep popping up and taking ducks be we still kill a few in our holes.
